Blank Slate Pinango Hefe Poster
June 25, 2016
Starting Time: 6:00 PM
Ending Time: 6:00 PM
One thing that we have learned from Beer Week is that there is a lot going on. With so many awesome events from so many awesome bars during Beer Week we decided to just say to hell with it and do something we thought was cool. Considering how involved Arnold’s is with art and with beer we decided to mix the creativity of the brewers with the creativity of an artist.
We convinced six breweries to commission some of the best Gig Poster artists in the country to re-imagine one of their beers as a brand new work of art. From that work the artists will create a limited edition of 50, signed and numbered hand pulled Screen Print from it.
Blank Slate’s poster will be for their beer Fork in the Road by Artists: We Have Become Vikings
Braxton will be tapping a keg of their Pinango Pineapple Mango Hefeweizen
About Blank Slate: Blank Slate Brewing Company was founded in March 2011 by Proprietor, Janitor, and Yeast Farmer Scott LaFollette. Scott is aBJCP certified Beer Judge, a Certified Cicerone, and a 2008 graduate of the Siebel Institute’s Concise Course in Brewing Technology. He is also an accomplished homebrewer of many years. After working for over 10 years as a Plastics Engineer and Polymer Chemist, Scott finally decided that it was time to take the several years he invested in THINKING about opening a brewery and put that energy into actually OPENING one. Thus Blank Slate Brewing Company was born. Initially operating as a draft only operation with distribution to local bars and restaurants, Blank Slate will, unlike many breweries, produce primarily seasonal brands. This means that many of the brands will be rotated several times throughout the year. This philosophy to forego the “flagship model” of beer branding and embrace the seasonal approach to beer brewing (and drinking) is a big part of the Blank Slate mantra. Bottling operations are expected to begin in 2015 and will initially be on a small scale.
About We Have Become Vikings: We Have Become Vikings is a group of rebels, rockers, thinkers and makers combining strategy and design to help clients tell stories through any means possible — a true creative shop.
We Have Become Vikings moves across all media channels that best serve design problems and creates culture through innovation and work — we combine ideation with design thinking to create a unique amazement and wonder that exceeds expectations.
We Have Become Vikings began in 2007 as a side project of Jason Snell. Working long hours after his 9 to 5 agency job, Jason realized his talents lay outside the large agency world working hands on freelancing with a variety of fortune 500 clients and small businesses alike.
We Have Become Vikings took the leap to a brick and mortar shop in 2011 in the burgeoning neighborhood of Over-the-Rhine. As clients and passions grew it was time to expand — enter Brandon Hickle.
We Have Become Vikings is proud to announce we will be partnering with Southpaw Prints to now offer full-service digital and print design, as well as full printing capabilities, animation, branding, identity, web, interactive, environmental, and soft goods. WHBV plans to expand our services in the OTR neighborhood offering not only more creative job opportunities but the involvement of the OTR community in interactive storefronts, collaborations and a gallery shop in which to sell creative curated goods. We look forward to taking on an even more responsible active neighborhood involvement in OTR and Cincinnati, focusing local and delivering nationally.
Brandon started his own company, Southpaw Prints in 2006, where he designs and prints for numerous clients in and around Cincinnati to across the country. Small Batch, limited edition screen printing has become Southpaw’s bread and butter in the time of great appreciation for handmade goods. Southpaw’s capabilities have grown to handle large production runs for clients with greater needs with such clients as Instrument Skateboards, WNKU, Neltner Small Batch, Revive Skateboards and Braxton Brewing Co. Brandon started Southpaw Prints in the heart of OTR and is excited to return with a larger impact and connection to the community.
Combining our efforts, We Have Become Vikings is now positioned to carve a unique space in the digital and print creative world in and outside Cincinnati. What makes WHBV so different in the creative community is not only our incredible body of work but also our expertise in both print and digital and our passion for our neighbors and community.
We work hard and play hard, and want to make kick ass work to further our never ending passion for art, music and design. We Have Become Vikings has lent its visual expertise to several Fortune 100companies and some of the world’s most popular brands including Amazon, F1 Racing, Third Man Records and Virgin America as well as, small businesses in our neighborhood, Spun Bicycles, Lumenocity, Artworks, Charley Harper Studios and Instrument Skateboards to name a few.
